One of our principal categories at Awoo News is YouTube, and we want to regularly bring interesting furry you-tubers to our readers’ attention. Today we have Faux Veritas, the fuzzy face behind . Recently he achieved 40k subscribers, and is rapidly on his way to the next milestone. With an audience this large and great content all around, it’s easy to overlook how Faux got there, and who the person behind the fluffy face is.
Faux started out by enjoying the furry fandom from afar, wishing well to furs across the Pacific in the US who attended Anthrocon and shared their fursuit pictures and art online.
“I stopped myself from getting too much into it then because, in my mind I was like ‘ugh… Australia, this isn’t gonna be here, this is an American thing, I’m just gonna depress myself if I get too much into it and can’t do anything about it.’”
Some years later however, by a fluke of luck Faux noticed a picture of one of ’s creations on a brag board in a fabric store. For those unfamiliar with the term, a brag board is a bulletin board for showing off crafts and creations to other store goers. This set off a chain reaction that eventually led to Faux joining the fandom, commissioning Lazy Lupe for his fursuit, and his YouTube success later on.
After starting to make a few videos for his YouTube channel and nearly a year active in the fandom, opportunity struck again for Faux. A final project in university fell through, and he needed to create something else; and what better at this point than to document and share his time so far in the fandom!
“What can I do…well I’m starting to put out videos on my furry YouTube channel, I might as well do a bit of a documentary; and I just threw together my first experience!… It was something I could actually talk about passionately.”
As it was, Faux only meant it to be a submission for university, but he decided that he liked it enough to put it up on YouTube as well.
“For someone who doesn’t get very many views on their videos, maybe 100, 200 at most, suddenly getting over a 1000, then 2000… building up there … this video has changed my youtube channel.”
Faux recounts the initial breakout of his documentary into the larger fandom sphere of influence. The positive response motivated him to start making videos on a regular basis, because the opportunity to connect to others in the fandom and provide them with encouragement and support was just too good to pass up. “I have a voice now, and I’m going to start to…keep using it!”And use it he has. In the past year alone Faux has doubled his subscribers from 20k to over 42k now, and his channel’s growth in viewership continues unbounded because of the funny, cute and heartwarming content that he continues to create. Faux Films represents some of the best that the fandom has to offer, and those who haven’t already should definitely subscribe to his . To finish in his words to everyone:
“Take the time to find yourself, be yourself, and never be ashamed about it. The most important person to love in the world is yourself.” -Faux
