Attention! Attention all readers and writers! Yes, yes, quiet down now! Even you, little Buddha Fox guy in the corner.
This week has been a bit of a doozy for yours truly. I was almost unable to push this spotlight by deadline from the incoming Spring change. Between pollen count rising and critters waking up from hibernation, it’s just my luck I get a fever. What kind of journalist would I be if I’m already late for my second publishing? But by the grace of the Giraffe god, I’ve fully recovered and I bring to you an AMAZING series!
With Spring Break just around the corner for those still in school, you’re probably wondering “Why would I want to read some random furry’s story when I have video games to play?” But at the same time have you been told you need to read more?
Here’s Doctor Shard588’s solution to your dilemma! I bring to you: CybraWolf and their story “Realms of Valeron”!!!
“Realms of Valeron” first chapter –> http://www.furaffinity.net/view/30371273/
“It was the biggest MMORPG ever created, and took the world by storm. With billions of players from every corner of the planet, ‘Realms of Valeron’ allowed anybody to interact with one another within the gloriously realized online world.
But for Roka, a young healer, it was more than that. It was a gateway to make friends. Friends like Exra, the hyperactive rabbit rogue; Gunnar the loyal dwarf, Sycorax the maniacal warlock, and many more.
What adventures lurk within the game? In a world full of quests and dangers, the truest and greatest loot is yet to be discovered. Bound together by the oaths of their guild, they would face brutal trials, savage enemies, and more than a few bugs that the game’s play-testers really should have caught before release… But this is no trite story of players trapped inside a video game! Our heroes can turn off the game and leave at any time. But why would they, or any of us, ever want to leave when you have friends like these?
Realms of Valeron is a comedy fantasy, part sit-com and part epic adventure, which explores the bonds of friendships in a digital age.”
This intro alone gave me goosebumps, personally. In the story, we follow Roka’s adventure through this popular, fantastical MMORPG following traditional games like World of Warcraft or Guild Wars. Along the way, as mentioned, he bands with new allies of all variety, each one with a unique personality and role.
As the healer role, Roka faces the early conflict “Am I a good healer? Did I choose the right role for me?” Many of us can identify with this all-too-common self-doubt, and we can see that influence Roka’s growth through the chapters. His friends are what help him see again and again how valuable of a team member he is and, staying true to the introduction, explore “the bond of friendship”. The humor each character brings keeps this ball rolling, always wanting to open up the next chapter for the next bout of laughs! But don’t take my word for it, go give it a read yourself and YOU be the judge of that.

About the author: CybraWolf (aka: Alison Cybe) is known around the community for more than their stories. In short, they are a fairly accredited author who specialises in fantasy and horror fiction. I had the awesome privilege of getting some answered questions, so here’s what they have to say about themselves.
<<“What got you into writing and what does it mean to you?”>>
I have been writing since a very young age. It has always been a powerful creative outlet for me, and gave me a means to explore worlds beyond our own.
<<“Is your writing a casual hobby or a means of making a living?”>>
It’s very much a living for me. I have had the good fortune to have several books published. Over years of effort, my work has eventually been featured in several horror and sci-fi/fantasy publications including Dark Cities, Interzone and Phantasmagoria magazines, and I do freelance writing work for several tabletop RPG companies including Green Ronin Publishing. Several of my pieces have had award nominations, and I am the manager of the gaming website cybeswebsite.com.
<<“Why write for the furry fandom?”>>
Although I’m fairly new to writing in the furry industry, I’ve found that it’s a great community to be involved in and has a strong, vibrant LGBTQ+ voice. I love that! I’m a trans, non-binary author and have written extensively about my experiences. In less than a year since becoming involved in the community, and with the help and support of the Furry Writer’s Guild, I have had several stories scheduled for upcoming release as well!
<<“How about dreams for the future?”>>
I am aiming to see Realms of Valeron in print in the very near future. This community is so wonderful for that, and I fully intend to keep trying until it is so. In the meanwhile, I would love it if people can check out the chapters that I release online – and if you would, please also check out some of the stories that I have in upcoming furry publications including “The Furry Cookbook” also available from Thurston Howl Publications later in this year!
